Tuesday Team Thoughts
- One of the sillier stories that has emerged from last Sunday’s Daytona race has been the “oh no, what’s wrong with Hendrick, they didn’t finish first through fourth” jive. People, people, people. Jeff Gordon and Mark Martin finished where they did because they took a gamble with a late pit stop that either the rain would hold off or the race would resume. In either case they were ready to make a move and had more than enough car to do so. Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s day has already been discussed to death, but I suspect he well may have figured into things at the end. Only Jimmie Johnson was off car-wise, which as you’ll recall happened more than once last year. How’s 2008 work out for that #48 team, anyway…
- While it was good seeing the PEGers do well, the true test comes the next two weekends at Auto Club and Las Vegas as to whether all parties concerned have their cars where they need to be in order to be competitive this season.
- Love him or otherwise, it was very good seeing Jack Roush finally win a Daytona 500. Roush is one of the pillars supporting today’s NASCAR. He deserves to be rewarded for his efforts.

Good thought about the Cat in the Hat. I sure didn’t consider that angle.
Think you will of the Cat in the Hat he deserved his place in the Sun…er rain, Sunday.
He’s done more for the Ford Racing brand at all levels and categories than anyone else in the last 4 decades.
