Well, That’s One Way To Win

Todd Bodine used an interesting technique en route to victory tonight at Daytona in the season’s first truck race: make your job easier by thinning out the field.  Of course he didn’t do it on purpose, but his waggle which clipped an unawares James Buescher when he was running alongside Ron Hornaday Jr. for the race lead and sent him on an industrial strength wiggle… well, mayhem ensued from which Bodine emerged unscathed.  Something several other drivers were anything but by the time the smoke had cleared too late for them to see wherever they went, there another already was.  Oops.

Overall it was an entertaining race, although I suspect I’m not alone in stating I could have easily lived without seeing Brent Raymer’s vicious hit.  Which brings up the point as to why the SAFER barrier isn’t mandatory along every inch of wall that can possibly by hit by a car.  Maybe when Daytona gets around to repaving it can address this as well.

Here’s hoping tomorrow’s Nationwide race is an equally smashing success… minus the actual smashing.
